OUR MISSION STATEMENT
A GREAT COMMITMENT to the GREAT COMMANDMENT and the GREAT COMMISSION will produce a GREAT CHURCH.
Five (5) Things God want us to achieve in this MISSION:
a. THAT WE WILL BE A FAMILY
b. THAT WE WILL BE MODELS OF HIS CHARACTER
c. THAT WE WILL BE MINISTERS OF HIS GRACE
d. THAT WE WILL BE MESSENGERS OF HIS LOVE
e. THAT WE WILL MAGNIFY HIS NAME
I. THAT WE WILL BE A FAMILY.
This is the purpose of fellowship. The Bible makes it clear that following Christ is not just a matter of believing. It also includes belonging. The Christian life is not a solo act. God has giving us the Church as a spiritual family for our benefit. Ephesians 2:9 says: you are members of God’s very own family … and you belong in God’s household with every Christian.
II. THAT WE WILL BE MODELS OF HIS CHARACTER.
This is the goal of discipleship. God wants every believer to grow up to become like Christ in character. In 1 Timothy 4:12, Paul gives us several specific areas where we are to model the character of Christ: “… set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” Notice that maturity is not measured by one’s learning but one’s lifestyle.
III. THAT WE WILL BE MINISTERS OF HIS GRACE.
This is a service to God and to one another. God expect us to use the gifts, talents, and opportunities He give us to benefit others. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.
God intends for every believer to have a ministry. “When you give your life to Christ you are signing up to minister in his name for the rest of your life.”
IV. THAT WE WILL BE MESSENGERS OF HIS LOVE
Once we have been born again, we become messengers of the Good News to others. It is part of the job description for every believer. 2 Corinthians 5:19 – 20 says, “ For God was in Christ, restoring the world to himself, no longer counting men’s sins against them but blotting them out. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others. We are Christ Ambassadors. God is using us to speak to you: we beg you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, receive the love he offers you – be reconciled to God.
We each have mission on Earth and part of it includes telling others about Christ. Paul said, “Life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the good news about God’s mighty kindness and love.” (Acts 20:24)
V. THAT WE WILL MAGNIFY HIS NAME
Psalm 34:3 says, “O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together. We are called to worship God. There is an inborn urge to worship in every human being. If we do not worship God, we find a replacement.
You may worship your job, your family, money, a sport, or yourself. That is why the very first commandment says, “Thou shall have no other God‘s before me.”
Whiles fulfilling the five purposes of this Vision, they also provide spiritual, emotional, and relational benefits. The Church provides people with things they cannot find anywhere else in the world: worship helps us to focus on God; fellowship helps us face life problems; discipleship helps us fortify our faith; ministry helps us find our talents; evangelism helps us fulfill our mission.
1. PASTORS are the ADMINISTERS.
